Outdoor Activities During COVID-19

Getting outside provides more than just a break from daily routines. It is also good for physical and mental health. More outdoor time is linked to lower obesity rates. Research has also found that when children spend more time in natural setting, they have less anger and aggression. Stress and depression are also lower for all people who spend time in nature.
But, what about the safety of outdoor activities during the COVID-19 pandemic? Follow the steps below to protect yourself and others.

Do

 Visit parks that are close to your home
 Check with the park or rec area in advance of your visit to prepare safely. Not all bathrooms and services are open at this time
 Stay at least 6 feet away from others you don’t live with
 Carefully consider the use of playgrounds and help children follow guidelines
Don’t
 Visit parks if you are sick
 Visit crowded parks

Not sure where to start? Wood County Park District parks are open daily from 8:00 am until 30 minutes past dark. Plan a picnic, take a bike ride, or search out beautiful flowers and trees to photograph. Camping in your own backyard is another fun activity for both children and adults. Don’t forget the marshmallows!
