June WOW Award Winner – Tracie Wilhelm

The WOW Patient Experience Initiative recognizes team members who engage with patients/families, visitors and employees in exceptional ways, providing a superior level of commitment and reflecting the values of Wood County Hospital. Tracie Wilhelm, operations assistant, was selected as the June WOW award winner for going above and beyond.

Tracie is an Administrative Assistant to all of the Support Services Departments. In this role, she is a wearer of many hats and works to accommodate many facility services. Some of her responsibilities include assigning maintenance work orders, taking phone calls and service requests, managing the National Recall Alert Center website for WCH, managing the Medical Safety Data Sheets on the MSDS website and scheduling service for the hospital’s vehicles, elevators, nurse call lights and items requested.

During a co-workers recent medical leave, Tracie pushed her outstanding customer service to a new level. On top of coordinating her department’s services, she juggled questions, phone calls, people needing one-on-one help, and providing updates. Tracie improved her excellent customer service and organization skills while taking on the extra work and phone calls.

“Tracie is a real asset to WCH! Her extra help to all of us directors and those in administration during the staff medical leave impressed me, along with her can-do spirit and reflection of the hospital’s values of dedication, responsiveness and effectiveness, shared Dianna Sonoras.”

She has been the Operations Assistant since August 2016. In 2007, she started at WCH in Registration as a registration representative. After seven years, Tracie transferred to Pre-Cert to do precertification for Radiology and Pain Management Procedures, where she stayed for two years before moving to her current position. She has been at WCH for almost 16 years.

When asked what she finds most rewarding about her job, Tracie shared, “Hands down, the most rewarding part is solving any problem and helping others. No matter the issue, request, or need, I always want to strive to help in any way I can for my team, co-workers, and the hospital.”

Thank you, Tracie, for being an exceptional team player.
