Wood County Hospital Offers Free Mammograms for the Uninsured

September 30, 2013, Bowling Green –To keep fighting breast cancer and stay well, all women age 40 and older should get a mammogram and breast exam every year. But for individuals who are uninsured getting an annual mammogram may not be possible.

Wood County Hospital, through funding from the Northwest Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is offering free mammograms for men and women who do not have health insurance and whose income is below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. Wood County Hospital is one of six hospitals in the Northwest Ohio region to offer this program.

Appointments for the mammograms can be made at the Wood County Hospital Women’s Center by calling 419-354-8743 and using the code word “PINK.” A physician order is required in order to schedule the mammogram. Individuals who do not have a family doctor and would like a mammogram can call the Wood County Health District’s Women’s Breast Health Program at 419-352-8402.
